Lost Pet Claims
At Wildwood Kitten Haven & NICU, the safety and wellbeing of our kittens is our highest priority. From the moment a kitten enters our care, we maintain full documentation including intake records, veterinary visits, and (when applicable) microchip scans.
We understand that it can be distressing if you believe one of our kittens may be a lost pet. To ensure fairness and protection for all animals, we follow the process below:
1. Documentation Required
Anyone claiming ownership of a kitten in our care must provide:
• Recent clear photos of the kitten in their home.
• Veterinary records or adoption paperwork matching the kitten.
• Microchip registration or other verifiable identification.
2. Intake Verification
Our rescue will compare provided documentation with our intake records, which include:
• Date and location where the kitten was found/surrendered.
• Health condition and weight at intake.
• Any medical treatment provided.
3. Communication Process
• Claims should be made in writing by emailing kerileenichol@gmail.com.
• We do not process ownership claims through Facebook comments, Messenger, or phone calls.
• Once proof is received, our team will respond within 5 business days with next steps.
4. Decision
• If proof of ownership is verified, arrangements will be made for the safe return of the pet.
• If proof cannot be verified, the kitten will remain in our rescue’s care and proceed through the adoption process.
5. Important Notes
• False claims delay the adoption process and can cause unnecessary stress for the animals.
• Our rescue will not release any animal without proper documentation.
• All decisions are made in the best interest of the kitten’s safety and wellbeing.
