At Wildwood Kitten Haven & NICU, the health and wellbeing of every kitten and cat in our care is our top priority. To ensure the highest standards of medical oversight, we proudly partner with Dr. Maria Juarez Byrd, our primary veterinary care provider.
Scope of Care
Preventive Care: Routine exams, vaccinations, parasite prevention, and wellness checks for all kittens and queens.
Emergency & Critical Care: Immediate access to diagnostics, hospitalization, and life-saving treatment when urgent needs arise.
Surgical Services: specialized surgeries and medical interventions as recommended by licensed veterinarians.
Diagnostic Support: Laboratory testing, radiology, and specialty referrals when needed to ensure comprehensive care.
Shared Commitment
Together with Dr. Byrd, we maintain a proactive approach to veterinary medicine—prioritizing early intervention, preventive treatment, and compassionate handling of each animal. This partnership allows us to:
Provide thorough, documented veterinary oversight in compliance with Missouri Department of Agriculture (ACFA) licensing requirements.
Develop treatment plans tailored to neonatal and special-needs kittens, including those requiring intensive NICU-level support.
Ensure all adopted kittens are examined, vaccinated, and altered before placement into forever homes.
Ongoing Collaboration
Our rescue maintains open communication with Dr. Byrd and the veterinary team at Southwest Animal Hospital, ensuring prompt updates on medical status, transparent recordkeeping, and coordinated care. This collaboration allows Wildwood Kitten Haven & NICU to uphold our mission:
“Where the Wildlings Grow” — raising healthy, thriving kittens with the best medical support available.
