The Winter of Beginnings
(How Compassion Became a Calling)
It began during a winter of loss and confusion.
Everything familiar seemed to fall apart at once, and I found myself standing in the middle of heartbreak—unsure of what to hold onto.
In that season, I was faced with a choice: to let pain harden me, or to let compassion reshape me.
Through helping a few forgotten animals find safety, I rediscovered what mercy feels like in its simplest form.
With what little I had—both financially and emotionally—I chose to plant something good in the middle of sorrow.
That seed became Wildwood, a space where care, dignity, and new beginnings take root every day.
Wildwood isn’t just about rescue.
It’s about redemption.
It’s about remembering that even in the harshest winters, love can still grow, and healing can still happen—for animals, for people, and for the parts of ourselves we thought were gone.
